Cantonese for Kids

Our books are available from: UK (De Ziremi, Cypress Books), Canada (Little Kozzi), Australia (Abbey’s). Most locations: Amazon. Also available by special order from most indie and major booksellers.

Our Cantonese books are great for families where not everyone is fluent in Cantonese, and possibly no one reads Chinese.  Like our own!

Teach your kids Cantonese while keeping them entertained with our fun, bilingual language books.  Our books make it easy for Dad, Mom or the grandparents to learn while teaching the kids.

We focus on conversational Cantonese, and include traditional Chinese characters and romanization, along with English.  Most books also include audio recordings.

“This is not a typical Chinese book for learning a language. Typical methods, especially for Cantonese, don’t always work when reading in written Cantonese.

In all her books, Karen uses conversational phrases. They focus on colloquial Cantonese, not formal written Chinese.

Under each Chinese character, you’ll find a Jyutping pronunciation and a phonetic pronunciation. These books also include a color-coded English translation.”

(full review with supplemental activities)

Karen added color-coding for the following parts-of-speech:

  • Verbs
  • Nouns
  • Other (phrases, adjectives, etc)

First, it makes the entire books look more colorful.

Second, it helps match the Chinese characters with the English translation and other pronunciation guides.

It makes it easier for kids to decode the sentences by categorizing the different part-of-speech
